Programmer Gift Ideas
1) Stress Relief Rubber Duck
The amount of stress that is relieved by simply placing a rubber duck on a developer’s desk is astounding. If you are stuck on that bug and about to boil over, a few squeezes of the good ol' rubber duck can quickly help you regain focus. This is a great programmer gift for any skill level and we highly recommend it, you get a rubber duck for the whole office with this Mini Rubber Duck 50-pack.
2) Programmer Mugs
A clever programming mug is always a well received programmer gift. Check out our in house programmer mugs below, two of my favorites are the Coffee Break Programmer Mug and our Code Programmer Mug. We hope you love them as much as we do!
3) Programming Mouse Pad
Most if not all developers use a mouse pad, so gifting one is not a bad idea! Keep in mind that there various ergonomic and performance considerations when finding a perfect mouse pad.Though I must say over the past 3 years I have been very happy with my Steel Series QcK mouse pad. I highly recommend it, picture below:
4) Programmer Shirts
We have developed some really unique programmer shirts made specifically for software developers, programmers and coders. This is a great programmer gift idea for any programmer with any amount of coding experience. Many of our programming shirts will act as a great conversation piece, as many require some understanding of programming. We hope you enjoy our code shirts as much as we do, here is a compilation of some of our favorites:
“Git Commit Git Push Git Out" Programmer T-shirt
We start with a programming shirt made specifically for developers who love Git.
“Hip Hip Array" Programmer T-shirt
Another one of our favorites is the Hip Hip Array programming shirt. This one will likely take some explaining to the not familiar with programming as the code pun translates to "Hip Hip Hooray!" This code shirt is a great conversation starter and is my personal favorite.
(Git) May The --Force Be With You Programmer T-shirt
Of course we couldn't leave out the Star Wars fans with this may the --force be with you code shirt. This one is fairly self explanatory and even non-programmers should pick this reference up quickly!
A favorite for the introvert programmers (most of us) is the /* no comment */ programming shirt. This is another great code pun which could take a few minutes to explain to anyone not familiar with commenting code syntax.
Another personal favorite of mine is the "It's not a bug, it's a feature shirt". This is an especially hilarious programmer shirt to wear to Sprint Review. Not only will your Product Owner love it, your testers will too!
We hope you enjoyed a few of our favorite programmer shirts! If you are interested in viewing more code shirts, check out our entire programming shirt collection.
5) Programming Mouse
Prior in this programmer gift guide we mentioned the Steel Series QcK mouse pad. But why not go out and get an actual mouse?! I know what you're thinking.. I have no idea how I'd ever pick the correct mouse for a programmer. Luckily your friends at System Out Of Memory have done the due diligence for you. Below we have the Logitech G703 gaming Mouse which boasts some pretty impressive features. After using this mouse over that past year it's safe to say this is one of the most performant and comfortable mice I have ever used! A quick rundown of the features are: Optical, Wireless, Up to 16K DPI sensitivity and two LED lights on the mouse which can be customized via the Logitech G Hub app. Pic below:
